Sustainability Update for 2023
As a business, we strongly believe that prioritising sustainability is essential for our future success. We are pleased to announce that our parent company, AW Hainsworth, has released their 2023 Sustainability Report, which outlines the various projects and initiatives that were implemented across the organisation over the past year.
“Our sustainability journey in 2023 has not been without its challenges. External factors – such as rising energy prices, high rates of inflation, the shift in UK living wages, global conflict, and unpredictable trading markets – have posed obstacles to our business, slowing some of the progress we had hoped to make. That said, we have continued to invest in and improve our operational infrastructure, and I believe that as we come into 2024 we remain in a strong position and continue with the same level of commitment.” – Amanda McLaren, Managing Director
In this report, we detail the actions we have taken to deliver greater sustainability at Hainsworth and Atkinson Dyeing, including:
Embedding sustainability into our values
Investing in our people and providing skills training
A continued emphasis on mental health support
Monitoring and taking measures to reduce our energy usage
Achieving Zero to Landfill
Partnering with and supporting local charities
The report also details the improvements that have been made at the Atkinson Dyeing site to enhance sustainability - these can be found on pages 38-41.
We take pride in the efforts we’ve made this year to showcase our dedication to the environment, the local community, our employees, suppliers, and our customers. As we move through 2024, we acknowledge that there is still much work to be done, and we are committed to further integrating sustainability into all aspects of the business.
“By closely monitoring our supply chains, investing in our people, and continuously improving our facilities and practices, we can continue to pave the way towards a more sustainable future for our company and the industry as a whole.” – Amanda McLaren, Managing Director
